The University Community Association Board meets on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM at the Northwood-High Building, 2231 North High Street, Room 200, Columbus, OH 43201.

We welcome your attendance!

The annual UCA Ice Cream Social will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Tuttle Park by the Memorial Garden from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

We are pleased to welcome The Ohio State University President Karen Holbrook as our guest speaker. We will be honoring Dr. Charles Pavey with a plaque in the Memorial Garden, and we also will be issuing the Pavey and Oscar awards for outstanding service in the University District.

Bring friends and family for a pleasant evening of company, play, and ice cream in the park. Ice Cream will be served compliments of CD 101. The festivities begin at 6:00, and the formal program will start at 6:30 PM.

Dear Neighbors:
I'm happy to announce that we have secured OSU President, Dr. Karen Holbrook, as our guest speaker at the Ice Cream Social on June 23rd. This year we will hold our annual event at Tuttle Park (off Neil Avenue) with the ice cream provided by our friends at CD101! Our tentative agenda looks like this:

6:00 pm CD101 arrives with the ice cream!
6:30 pm Dr. Holbrook speaks
7:00 pm Community Memorial Garden Induction of the late Dr. Charles Pavey
Presentation of the Pavey Award and the Oscar Award
7:30 pm Closing comments and adjourn

Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets! Ice cream will be served from 6 - 6:30.

Special thanks go to Randy Malloy, a new neighbor and Director of Operations for CD101 for providing the ice cream truck and to the Joe Motil and the Tuttle Park Community Council for providing the memorial plaque and the on-going maintenance of the Community Memorial Garden.

On a separate note, I'd like to thank all those who responded to our letter asking for membership renewals, especially our supporting members (those who donated at least $50): Community Crime Patrol, Bob Fletcher, The Gallagher's, Pasquale Grado, Inn Town Homes, Rutherford Funeral Home and St Stephens Episcopal Church

We received several good suggestions for speakers and workshops. The Executive Board will be using these to plan our future activities. I encourage those of you who have not already sent in you dues to please do so. As I mentioned in my letter, we are attempting to have everyone pay at the same time each year so if you need to pro-rate your dues please do so. This will not only help your Executive Board plan activities, it also will help us update our mailing list.

Our purpose is to encourage the viability of the University District as a unique community of neighborhoods through the following activities: promotion of appropriate preservation and development, recognition of the community's heritage and diversity, communications that extend a sense of community, leadership development, and the encouragement and support of initiatives of other organizations that further these efforts.
